E-Learning

Instruction via the internet (E-learning) is one of the means by which Carolina faculty members advance the institution’s educational mission of preparing students from a variety of backgrounds to become future leaders. Because the internet is a relatively new and continually evolving medium, effective E-learning may require the teacher to reconceptualize the educational experience and to devise novel approaches to instruction and assessment. The CFE, in collaboration with UNC Instructional Technologies Services (ITS), helps faculty members develop new online courses and incorporate E-Learning effectively into existing courses.

 

The CFE provides the following services and materials related to E-Learning:

• eQuality Essentials, courses that prepare faculty to teach online
• Coordination of the Teaching and Learning with Technology Collaborative at Chapel Hill (TLTC)
• Resources for online course development, implementation, and evaluation
• Standards for online course development
• Assistance with the redesign of large enrollment classes to include online learning and assessment components
• Assistance with adding new technology to face-to-face instruction
• UNC resources for online teaching and learning
• Faculty showcase
