While classes have resumed here in Chapel Hill, many faculty and students are continuing to cope with Hurricane Florence. The Center for Faculty Excellence is here to assist faculty as we support students who were affected by the storm. Fortunately, several teaching tools and resources are available that allow you to record classes and post videos online, share course materials or presentations online, or maintain communication with students by holding class meetings or office hours online. We encourage you to review the list of teaching and learning situations and available tools noted on the recent blog post by ITS-Teaching and Learning.

Again, if you notice one of your students is struggling or has not returned to class, please complete a Care Referral Form. A team of faculty and staff will provide individualized care and guidance for those students.

Finally, if you need individual assistance to adjust your teaching methods to support affected students, the CFE and related units have staff available to support you. Please contact us at cfe@unc.edu or doug.james@unc.edu and we will respond as quickly as possible. Thanks for your ongoing effort to support the academic and personal success for all of our students by extending care and flexibility to those impacted by Hurricane Florence.
