Overcoming the Tyranny of Content

This workshop introduces participants to a recent publication from Life Sciences Education and offers practical strategies for shifting away from a content-coverage model of course design in favor of devoting more class time to active learning.

Participants will be able to:

• Leverage evidence that student-centered teaching practices offer advantages over content-driven pedagogies
• Begin to identify core concepts and competencies in your course
• Evaluate the kinds of organizing frameworks that could work for your students
