About MCAD
Background
While some faculty members and academic units have been making strategic use of student performance data as long as the information has been available, My Course Analytics Dashboard (MCAD) is the first effort to make such data easily accessible to all instructors. The idea for MCAD gained traction in 2017 as part of Thrive@Carolina, a University-wide student retention working group of faculty, staff, and administrators focused on student success.
MCAD pilot was piloted across three departments in 2018 and was announced to all UNC instructors in 2019. It is overseen by a planning committee whose members include faculty and staff representing the Center for Faculty Excellence and the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment.
