Call for Proposal for Faculty Fellow for Generative AI

Advance your own AI literacy, make connections with innovators across campus, support the professional development of other faculty – apply to be the Faculty Fellow for Generative AI!

The Center for Faculty Excellence is inviting applications for a Faculty Fellow to join the Teaching and Learning team to strengthen the CFE’s support for faculty around Generative AI. The Faculty Fellow will work closely with CFE staff on a variety of projects, which could include:

  • Designing workshops and other professional development offerings such as a Faculty Learning Community or Community of Practice around Generative AI;
  • Reimagining and updating online resources;
  • Written and in-person outreach to faculty to demonstrate how AI can be used to support teaching, research productivity, and other faculty responsibilities.

The Faculty Fellow will also be encouraged to pitch and pursue their own ideas for advancing faculty development around Generative AI to help create a broad portfolio of support offerings. We envision that the fellowship will begin in summer 2024 and continue through spring 2025, with a $5000 stipend provided for each term. Exact working schedule and timeline can be negotiated.

Faculty Fellowships are available for faculty on nine- or twelve-month contracts from all schools and disciplines. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, self-driven, and motivated to engage with diverse faculty across the university regardless of their home department. As part of the application, candidates must confirm that they have support for this fellowship from their chair/dean.
Timeline for Initial Faculty Fellow

  • Application open in early to mid-April
  • Faculty Fellow selection in early May
  • Faculty Fellowship begin in summer 2024 or Fall 2024 (depending on Fellow availability)

Your responses to all questions should be under 1000 words in sum.
