Women ADVANCE Leadership

Women ADVANCE Leadership is a workshop series to encourage and support mid-career faculty (associate professor and higher, tenured and fixed-term) seeking to enhance their skills and advance to senior leadership, research, and teaching positions. Participants join a multidisciplinary cohort of mid-career faculty to attend a monthly Women ADVANCE Leadership workshop. Each workshop includes self-reflection activities (sent ahead of time), interactive discussion, and small group activities.

The program showcases respected and accomplished women in academic leadership, who contribute pre-recorded interviews sharing their stories, challenges, and successes. Each speaker will join a Women ADVANCE Leadership workshop for live Q&A with participants. Featured speakers represent a breadth of academic leadership roles and disciplines.

As part of the Women ADVANCE Leadership experience, participants have the opportunity to conduct or plan a project, which they will lead and for which they will provide recommendations. Ideally, the project will benefit both their professional advancement and the effectiveness and efficiency of their UNC-CH unit or department. Project guidelines are available here.

If you are submitting your application for the 2024-25 Women ADVANCE Leadership program, then please hold the 2024-25 workshop dates on our calendar while awaiting application decision. If accepted into the program, you will receive formal calendar invitations for each workshop.
