Catherine Gihlstorf is the Senior Associate Director for Operations having joined the CFE in 2023. She brings over 25 years of higher education experience from both the university and industry perspectives. After completing her Master’s degree at UNC, Catherine opened and led UNC’s Kenan-Flagler’s Center for Innovation in Learning, the business school’s first technology focused teaching and learning center. She then moved to Cary, NC based SAS Institute where she partnered with university professors and departments to help develop the first analytics and data science programs in the country and cultivated non-traditional pathways to analytical careers. Catherine returned to UNC in 2020 to the Gillings School of Global Public Health where she managed the online MPH degree.
Catherine earned a BS from Northwestern University, a Masters in Instructional Design from UNC-Chapel Hill and is currently at doctoral student at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College studying Leadership and Learning in Organizations. Catherine is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer having served in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
