Moving Ideas Forward: Using In-Class Writing Activities

There are numerous ways to quickly incorporate in-class writing activities to engage students, help move their ideas forward, improve writing and editing capacities, and develop critical thinking skills. Dr. Abels will demonstrate several in-class writing activities that you can quickly implement into your teaching.

Participants will be able to: 

• Locate options, choose, and implement various low-stakes, easy to use in-class writing activities to help move student ideas and thinking forward
• Select in-class writing activities to enhance your students’ writing and editing skills
• Determine the types of in-class writing activities that can provide you and your students with immediate feedback on their critical thinking and writing skills
