Teaching in Challenging Times Discussion Series
May 2, 2017, 7:45 AM - 9:15 AM EDT
How do instructors decide if/when to discuss their politics or values with students? How do they successfully manage any subsequent dialogue?
This workshop is designed to help faculty members reflect upon how they negotiate the intersections of their personal and professional identities in their classrooms. We will begin our discussion by unpacking a case study together. Near the end of the session, several experienced discussants will respond to themes emerging from our earlier conversation and share strategies that have been effective for them in their teaching.
Registration is limited to 25 participants; additional registrants will be added to a wait-list and contacted as space becomes available.
Lunch will be served starting at 11:45am, and our discussion will begin promptly at 12:00pm.
