CTLC Series: Leveraging the ‘Teaching Effect’ to Improve Learning Outcomes

In the first meeting of the new Carolina Teaching and Learning Colloquium (CTLC) series, Dr. Scott Roberts (Univ. Maryland) will present on Leveraging the ‘Teaching Effect’ to Improve Learning Outcomes. When studying in preparation to be tested, students’ metacognitive framework revolves around their perceived ability to recall information. However, if they instead prepare with the expectation that they will have to teach others, they tend to engage beyond rote memory and demonstrate deeper, more persistent learning.
