Summer Writing Group

The SWG Program, which runs May to August, brings together faculty members from all disciplines and career stages in small peer groups to help spur writing productivity and foster cross-disciplinary connections relevant to writing projects. Peer groups meet regularly throughout the summer and have the freedom to structure their writing group activities. As part of the SWG Program, the CFE offers a Special Topics Series of workshops for all participants. Register for writing group session.


Fulbright Scholars

Fulbright

CFE Research supports aspiring Fulbright Scholars by providing application assistance (including individual consultations and mock reviews), publicizing application and award information and timelines, holding Fulbright information sessions, facilitating connection of aspiring and past grantees, and holding Fulbright Day in partnership with the Center for Global Initiatives’ Fulbright Student Scholars program. Research Foundations Workshops

Research Foundations workshops, offered as part of CFE’s August Faculty Foundations Program, introduce faculty to UNC’s research support system and related resources.

Topics include: Introduction to Research Support at Carolina, How the Health Sciences Library Supports and Partners with Carolina Researchers, Initiating and Funding Your Research Project: Where do I Start?, Intro to Odum Research Institute Services: Need Help with Data, Design, Analysis?, Compliance and Ethics in Research at Carolina.

The CFE provides individual consultations on research grants and scholarly writing. In addition, the CFE provides assessment consultations and support to inform Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) practice and dissemination, instructional innovation, and course redesign. The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) brings together CFE’s Research and Teaching & Learning initiatives to support faculty interested in taking the steps to improve undergraduate and graduate student learning at UNC and beyond.
